As the holiday season is quickly approaching, we could all use a little cheer. That goes for everyone in our community, including our beloved patients and staff. Our workers have been helping minorities fight HIV and AIDS since 1998! We are nearing the end of the year 2021 and we can proudly say that we are doing a good job. None of this would have been possible without you – the members of our supportive community!
To show you how important your contribution is to us, let me tell you a little bit about MASS. MASS stands for Minority AIDS Support Services. We are a minority-owned and operated non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide access to HIV testing and education to minorities, as well as support and advocacy to HIV positive people in need.
MASS was established back in 1998 by an African American woman, Marolyn Edmonds. The organization was meant primarily for the African American community in the Eastern Shore region, as well as other minorities in need.
We have a lot of people and organizations to thank for where we are now. Because of them, we are able to help people and educate them about HIV/AIDS every single day. Here are some of our partners and sponsors:
- Elton John AIDS Foundation
- ViiV Healthcare
- Ryan White Program of Norfolk, Virginia
- Coordinated Care Network (CCN)
We strive to help and support our community in a number of ways. Besides offering HIV testing and treatment, we also provide housing, food, transportation, and other resources to those in need. In order for us to continue to provide support to positive people in need, we kindly ask for your help. Here are some things you can do:
